Here’s just another reason why The Cincinnati Enquirer and the parent company who owns them, Gannett, suck.
When they can’t think of any original ideas of their own, they rip off another paper.
Metromix, you know that fake alternative that the Enquirer produces that replaced their other fake alternative that failed—CiN Weekly—is promoting a “Best Of” Cincinnati edition. Click here to find out more about it.
“Best Of.” Sounds familiar doesn’t it? CityBeat has been producing a “Best Of” issue for over a decade now. Click here to view the real thing.
It looks like Metromix is keeping it mostly to restaurants, bars and food—but it’s still a rip off. Do you think they know that? Of course.
Classless. Tasteless. Typical.
I’m pretty sure CityBeat has the words “Best Of” trademarked and copyrighted to their publication. I would love it if they sue Gannett but I don’t know if it’s worth their time. Just like CiN, those Metromix boxes downtown stay mostly full. Still, I hate to see a paper that’s fake rip off a paper that’s the real deal.
Gannett, again, you’re “the man” and you suck.

agreed, tasteless, but really city beat doesn’t have anything to worry about. no reads metromix do they?
It’s interesting. I have issues with CityBeat with the new toned down approach but if nothing else, this should remind us that CityBeat is still the better free publication here. This “idea” of ripping off the better paper makes them look desperate.
You write for CityBeat. No shock you would have this opinion. At the end of the day, who really cares?
At the “end of the day” Metromix is a joke. Still, it is nasty to rip off a homegrown paper.
Maybe not at the end of the day but I’m betting by the end of the year, Metromix will be no more. Like Cin, he can’t be making any money and the Enquirer is bottom line driven.
No real loss, of course.
I’m proud to say I have never read metro mix.
I’ve picked up Metromix a couple times. There is nothing to read in it. No, City Beat is still the best paper. I think Metromix is mostly about advertising.
I prefer Chex Mix.
Find a buck in your pocket and pick up Streetvibes. It’s better than both those papers combined.
There isn’t anything alternative about Metromix, but there isn’t anything alternative about CityBeat either. Except for some of the columns in front (yours included), it’s basically the same as Metromix. There’s no real news and even the sports column has been dropped. So you movies, music and some art stuff, just like Metromix. Same old thing.
