  1. The Enquirer will do whatever the Enquirer thinks it can get away with. The attempt to rip off “Best of” is a perfect example of what they are capable of.

They give other publications no respect at all, yet they think they deserve it. Pretty much bullshit, isn’t it?

  2. Any estimate on the percentage of “stolen stories” it gets from other media, like the Dayton Daily News?

  3. The Cincinnati Enquirer is regarded as one of the worst newspapers in the United States. Looking at their daily content proves that, so are we suppose to take their “complaints” seriously? How can you take a joke seriously?

  4. Interesting question from Rick, but I have no percentages. All I know is I also get the Dayton Daily News and the Enquirer at home and I always read somewhat local stores in the Dayton paper first, then the next day, read basically the same thing in The Enquirer. For me, I’m always a little surprised when I find something in The Enquirer that is actually being reported by a local reporter.

  5. Metromix is a joke. Ever notice how those boxes of theirs always remain full? Does anyone ever read it?

  6. I only pick up Metromix when I can’t find a City Beat or when their boxes are empty. It’s always pretty bad but at least the listings will do.

  7. I loved the Bellwether report, what was said at the Beacon and what was said here. I also appreciate Cincinnati Nation who has promoted these “alternative” voices against the standard, same old, same old bullshit

The Enquirer “standing up,” being “mad as hell” is just a joke to all of us who follow real reporting. Even in the day when The Enquirer was just plain bad, at least some real reporting was done. Now? Nothing.

Look at the content. It’s mostly stories from the Associated Press and rip offs from other publications. Yes, it’s sad.

But we have CityBeat, CincyNation, the Beacon and here to maybe keep it real.

You know, it beats a blank.
