Shameless self-promotion isn’t a pretty thing but I’ve never said I was pretty. That link up above is to my latest column in CityBeat.
This column will be in CityBeat the first issue of every month. In the old days, I would usually write two columns a month, then farm it out to other writers whach frankly was a pain in the ass as some writers would miss deadlines. With this arrangement, I don’t have to worry about that. I never miss a deadline.
Thanks to all who voiced their opinion to CityBeat and wanted the LOL column back in that publication. You all are the best.
I’m also now writing for Article 25 which is having some distribution problems, but I’ll write about this another day. I want to talk about the selling of CityBeat.
It was announced on Monday that SouthComm has purchased CityBeat. SouthComm, based out of Nashville, isn’t new to alternative newspapers. Among others, they own The Nashville Scene and LEO, the alternative newspaper out of Louisville. Both are fine publications and I know people at both newspapers, all good people. I think CityBeat will be a good fit for that group.
In my view, the down side to this is CityBeat will no longer be locally owned, but what newspaper are these days? It sounds like most of the staff, my friends, will stay on and will continue to provide the Cincinnati area will good writing and content. The bottom line is that’s the most important thing.
You know me. I hate change, but in the real world, change is a good thing. I hope this new adventure works out well for everybody.
Make sure you read my latest column in CityBeat and make a comment. I want the new bosses to think people actually read me.
