I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. OK, maybe that’s a little strong. I have a like/dislike relationship with Facebook.
A few days ago, I started thinking about a girl (you know, she’s really a woman, but I still say girl—sounds better) I used to date back in the mid 90’s. We didn’t date that long or that often. Thinking back, maybe we went out four or five times. It was all pleasant enough and I liked her then and I like her now, but it never went anywhere. It wasn’t meant to be.
I knew if I looked hard enough, I could find her on Facebook. The reality is I didn’t have to look hard at all.
I found my old girlfriend (woman friend doesn’t sound right). She’s living in Michigan now, is married and has a small child who looks exactly like her. She had a photo posted.
I know I won’t be calling for a date now and I’m not sure about making her a Facebook friend. Maybe it’s better to just leave it alone.
So in conclusion, in explaining the title of his so-so blog post. . .
I like Facebook because it’s good at its job in finding old friends. I dislike Facebook because it informed me my old woman friend (girlfriend does sound better) has moved on and has probably forgotten all about me. It truly wasn’t meant to be.
Whatever. Even forgetting about Facebook, sometimes likes and dislikes are pretty damn close.
