I’ve had a few Wiedemann beers in my life as my ex-father-in-law used to drink it. I’m not a big beer drinker and all I can remember about it is getting headaches every time I drank it. That’s just me. I could compare it to Milwaukee’s Best but I won’t.
Wiedemann plans on expanding in Northern Kentucky, but right now it’s on tap at Pompilio’s Italian Restaurant in Newport. Speaking of Pompilio’s, what’s up with that iceberg lettuce they serve?
I thought by now they would have replaced it with a better salad, but I was there a few weeks ago with some friends for lunch and they’re still serving it.
Now Pompilio’s is a fine restaurant, but do you know the nutritional value of iceberg lettuce? There is no nutritional value to iceberg lettuce. It’s like eating a bowl of water.
While eating a little bit of it while I was there, I thought about having a conversation with our waitress about iceberg lettuce but I didn’t know the friends I was with all that well, so I kept my mouth shut.
I hope I’m not sounding mean and negative here today. Really, enjoy your Wiedemann with your iceberg lettuce.

Can’t help but wonder if the beer was good, why did it go out of business?
I know what you are saying about the iceberg lettuce at Pompilio’s, but believe me if they changed it, the regulars would complain. The regulars love that salad!
…and your waitress probably make $2.13 an hour, and doesn’t have any control over what kind of lettuce the restaurant serves, so I’m sure she wouldn’t really care to hear your opinion of the salad.
The lettuce sucks and so does the beer.
My dad always drank Wiedemann beer so I’m gonna tell him to get to Pompilios and get some along with some iceberg lettuce!
I think Pompilio’s in overrated actually and the salads do suck out loud and the place looks in disrepair. Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but I like LaRosa’s better.
“Weedy” used to give me headaches, too, so I quit on it pretty quickly. But I’m going to Pomp’s this week and will try the new draft Wiedemann because I read that they have gone to a new recipe that contains some of the original ingredients but also some new ones. If it’s headache-free, I might try some more. I can taste the good Pompilio’s lasagne now, but the salad is weak.

I can’t find much to disagree with here. Pompilio’s has the best Italian food around but their salads? TERRIBLE. Really, why bother? Just eat the excellent bread. Wiedemann beer? Never heard of it.
Larry, you will never change! Still ranting about the wrongs of Iceberg lettuce. Thing is, you’re still right.

Wiedemann’s beer was smooth, refreshing, and just what I needed after a long day at work. It was truly a honor to be at the keg tapping at Pompilio’s! Way to go Newberry’s!
