Whenever I think of Nicolette Larson, I get sad. I wish she was still here to grace us with her beautiful voice and sing some new songs.
She’s known for her hit record “Lotta Love” recorded in 1978—a cover of the old Neil Young song. After that, she put out more great music, but never became that big name in the music business that she deserved. I’ve never understood the music business. Never have, never will.
She died in 1997 of cerebral edema and liver failure, leaving behind her husband and 7-year-old daughter. I cried when I heard the news.
But let’s not cry now. Let’s watch and listen to Nicolette singing “When You Get a Little Lonely,” recorded in 1986 at an outdoor concert in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

It got my foot to tappin’
“Rhumba Girl” is better.
Rhumba Girl is better. Less hillbilly.
She has a pretty voice
Maxie’s opinion is good with me. That tune, written by another underrated musician/singer/songwriter, Jesse Winchester, is excellent. And Nicolette was also criminally underrated. After she passed, many of her friends, including Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Walsh, Jackson Browne and others recorded a fine live tribute album. If you can find it, pick it up–you won’t be sorry. She was an exceptional talent gone way too soon.
She had a lot of talent, no doubt about it, but her thing was always singing someone else’s songs. She didn’t write any of her own. I can’t get into artists like that.
Tuck, you should be writing your own blog. You’re always interesting.
Getting off the subject here, I want to know who created that “bowl of larries” and how it all came about. Please tell me. I love it.
Fabulous!!! And, Jesse Winchester…. good music!!
