Ready for the weekend? It’s going to be back to winter but it’s always nice to have a few days off – right?
Last Saturday I was out with a friend in the afternoon and she needed to run into Kroger’s on Ferguson Road to pick up a few things. I decided to wait outside the store next to the exit doors.
Standing there smoking a cigarette, I watched a woman come out of the store with a cart moving rather quickly. A Kroger employee was right behind her.
“You need to return those items to the store,” she told the woman. The woman left the cart and started running.
It finally dawned on me that the woman was trying to steal groceries from Kroger’s. As the Kroger employee ran after the woman, I walked over to see what was in the cart.
It was all toilet paper, rolls and rolls of it – different brands, different colors, but all toilet paper. There must have been 60 rolls in that cart.
The woman got away. I talked to the Kroger employee named Wanda for a little bit asking her what tipped her off to the woman.
“I just watched her walk out the door,” Wanda said.
I guess this type of thing happens all the time, but I can’t help but wonder why just toilet paper?
If you’re the woman who attempted to steal it, do me a favor: Please tell me why.
