I honestly don’t recall how I came across your name. It had to be on the web somewhere. I found out you’re a writer (god, there are so many of us out there) and I read a description of your new novel.
“The Melting Season” sounded interesting to me, so I e-mailed your publisher, Riverhead Books, and they sent me a copy to review.
Of course the risk here is I wouldn’t like the book, but the fact of the matter is I do. It’s quite good. I won’t go into detail as to what the story is about here as I’m doing a review of it in CityBeat that should be out early next month. When that happens, I’ll also put the review up here. All I’m going to say for now is it’s a damn fine novel.
Maybe what I admire the most about you, outside of your writing, is that you want to sell books. I’ve published a couple myself and I’m very aware that self-promotion sucks. I know that you know that too—still you’re doing everything that you can to get the word out there. You have guts. I like that.
In an effort to help out, and to those who come here on a regular basis, here’s a link to Jami’s blog (which, by the way, is really good) where you can find another link to her book trailer and find out where her book tour is going.
Good luck, Jami. I hope you sell a ton of books. Maybe when “The Melting Season” comes out in paperback, you can visit a bookstore here in Cincinnati.
If that should happen, after the signing, I’ll take you to a Skyline Chili. Honest I will.
