On Thursday, a man was shot in Over-the-Rhine because he wouldn’t turn over a can of beer. Click here to read more about it and to watch a video. Before you can actually watch the video, you’ll have to set through an annoying commercial but at least it’s not a beer commercial.
The man who was shot didn’t die. That’s the good news here. The reporter doesn’t state what kind of beer the man had. I’m not sure if a guy would pull out a gun for a can of Pabst, but I’m not a beer drinker and I don’t know how thirsty the shooter was.
I know. A guy getting shot isn’t funny and while I’m tempted to link to that CityBeat column I wrote about “Gun People,” I’m not in the mood to get hate mail on a Sunday. Let’s just say I hate guns and this shooting in OTR is just another example as to why.
As far as Over-the-Rhine goes, fixing it up and turning the neighborhood around is never going to stick until the violence gets under control. How does that happen? More guns? I don’t think so.
