I have an essay in this week’s CityBeat. It’s in their holiday issue and I would normally link to it but for reasons that I’ll get to in a little bit, I can’t. The archives of me at that publication are over to the right of this blog. You can open it up over there..
I don’t dare try to link to the essay, because my computer is trying to get over a virus. The last few days have been—how to I say this in a nice way?—shit. A friend came over on Wednesday
and did some repair work and for the most part things are working but I’m not really trusting it yet…
I’m thinking back to my old Smith Corona portable typewriter. I got my first byline in a newspaper in Seattle, Washington back in 1994 with a story I typed on that thing. The photo I’m using here kind of looks like it.
That typewriter is long gone now but I wish I still had it. About the worst thing that could happen with it would be changing the ribbon. That I could handle.
Happy Holidays to you too.
