The title of this post is a lie. The truth is I once knew the guy who sang “The Sheriff of Boone County.”
He was Kenny Price, a local Country singer born and raised in Northern Kentucky. This song that he wrote came out in the early 70’s and was a top ten Country hit and even got some Pop airplay which was kind of sad to me. Kenny recorded so many great songs. Why was this one all over the radio?
And it was over three minutes long. The video is a live version of the song, but the studio recording was way over those three minutes and back in those days, a song didn’t get played if it was too long, you know, commercials, but this one did. It was crazy.
OK, I guess that’s boring. I’m just telling you.
One of these days, I’ll write about my strange life, but for now I just want to say I knew this giant of a man. I was a teenager at the time and he was always nice to me. I’m sorry that he’s gone.
We should remember the nice people and forgive the bad. Screw the forgiving part. Get even.
