We didn’t do a post yesterday because the electric was out in my apartment building. Let’s not get into why it was out, maybe another time, but it was out for over 18 hours and that’s a long time. Here’s what I discovered and/or thought about while the electric was off.
Will the food in my icebox and freezer now be unsafe to eat? It probably is. I started to calculate how much money I paid for that food and I plan on deducting it from my rent.
It’s better to have the electric go out during the summer. I don’t like being cold in an apartment.
Always have matches around to light candles. Lighters suck when it comes to this.
It’s probably better not to have a phone that is run through a computer. A computer depends on the electric working.
Always know where your flashlight is. Always keep around extra batteries.
Learn to drink vodka and tonics without ice.
My job is writing and I shouldn’t be so dependent on a computer which does me no good when the electric is out. I need to buy more legal pads and also a few pens.
Neighbors talk to each other more when they have a common problem—in this case no electric. Now that everything is OK, we go back to ignoring each other.
OK, done. I know this is a bit rambling this morning but try to get over it.
