Rosemary Clooney, the famous singer and actress who got her start in Cincinnati, will have her own room—“The Rosemary Clooney Room”—at the Blue Wisp. This happens on May 23 (which would have been Rosemary’s 84th birthday) at 8:30 p.m. with local favorite Mary Ellen Tanner headlining the show. Tickets are not yet on sale.
The Blue Wisp is located at Seventh & Race Streets in downtown Cincinnati. To get more information on that May 23 show, call them at 513-241-9477.
It’s nice of Ed Felson to be doing this, to be honoring one of our own. Of course Rosemary actually grew up in Kentucky but that’s right across the river so it’s close enough.
Rosemary is the sister of Nick Clooney who is pretty famous around here himself. Nick has a son who has been trying to break into show business for years but so far hasn’t had much success.
Rosemary got her start here on WLW AM back in 1945. I wonder if that station was called “The Big One” back then. I also wonder if Bill Cunningham will ever have a room named after him. I’m guessing not.
We’ll be back on Friday with another post.
