John Schneider and his wife April have been living in downtown Cincinnati for the past 33 years and like it just fine. He recently wrote about it in the Cincinnati Enquirer and you can read what he wrote right here.
John and his wife live on East Eighth Street. I don’t know if John will remember me, but for a short period of time, I lived right across the street from him. I remember running into John at Arnold’s one December night along with Jim Tarbell. We had a few drinks together.
That was a few years ago. Living in downtown Cincinnati didn’t work out for me. This had more to do with having a bad landlord than actually living downtown. Now I’m in a different downtown—downtown Covington—and I’ve been here for almost a year. It’s working out great.
What John likes about living in downtown Cincinnati is “convenience.” I would use the same word to describe downtown Covington. Like John, I also don’t own a car. I can walk to almost everything I want to see or need.
Maybe someday soon I’ll head over across the river and meet up with John at Arnold’s and have another drink with him. After all, downtown Cincinnati is only a Tank Bus and a few minutes away.
We’ll be back on Saturday with another post.
