A few weeks ago I was up at the Walgreens on Madison Avenue here in Covington (Covington is where I live—you know) looking for bargains which is kind of hard to do, because Walgreens has few bargains, but I managed to find one.
They had bottles of garlic salt—much like the one pictured here—on sale for fifty cents. That seemed like a good deal to me, so I bought a bottle.
At this point I should mention that this is the first bottle of garlic salt I have ever purchased in my life. I should also mention that I have ever tasted garlic salt.
For days I looked at that bottle of garlic salt sitting on top of my microwave in my kitchen having no idea what I had purchased or what I could use it for. I did a Wikipedia search.
Most of you probably already know that garlic salt can be used as a substitute for fresh garlic. It’s good on burgers or chili.
Last night, not having any burgers or chili, I sprinkled some garlic salt on some pasta. It made the pasta taste, well, salty. I’m not sure why this surprised me.
That bottle of garlic salt is back on top of my microwave. I have a feeling it’s going to be there for a very long time.
