I drink, but I won’t be doing a lot of it, if any at all, and I won’t be doing it in any bar this weekend. This may be hard for some of you to believe, but I’ve gotten out of the habit of going to them. Since moving to Covington, Kentucky in the summer of 2011, I have yet to find a favorite bar over here, mainly because I don’t sample them. You know, people change.
Having said that and getting back to St. Patrick’s Day, I have nothing against drinking and doing it in bars, but I just don’t think it all has to go hand in hand. You can celebrate at home with a few friends and not be out and about all drunk.
The last time I actually celebrated this Irish holiday in public was back in March of 2008 and even then it was by accident. On that day, I went into a bar I normally go into in Downtown Cincinnati and it was packed with everybody celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. I ended up going to another bar down the street. Big mistake.
But, after it was all said and done, I got a column out of it. Click here to read, “Cut Her Off.”
I’ll be back on Sunday with another post. Maybe I’ll write something about hangovers. Be safe.
