I don’t know where these geese are coming from, but I know where they’re flying to: The Ohio River. I watch them fly over, listen to their honking noises and I’m in awe. This makes my morning. My apartment window is in the perfect spot to watch those geese.
Looking out that same window, right across the street, I see St. Mary’s Cathedral. I’m not a churchgoer but if I were, I would go there. When they light up the outside of that cathedral at night, it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful when it’s not lit up too. Day or night, I have quite a view.
You would never know it from the current weather, but spring is here. Looking out my window and down below, I can see workers putting fresh mulch around the trees that surround the building. New benches are being added too.
Looking out my window, I see people walking on the sidewalk. I watch cars and trucks going up and down the streets. I can see Tank Buses stopping at the bus stop picking up passengers. I can watch life all around me.
I’ve been in this building since the last week in January. Before that, I lived in another building that wasn’t the best. During the last few months that I lived there, I now realize that I had turned into a complainer. Yes, I had things to complain about and I had to do it, but it’s no fun to be a complainer and now I don’t have to be. It’s like a little bit of a weight has been lifted.
I live in Downtown Covington, Kentucky. I’m now living a good urban life here. I’m reminded of that every time I look out my window.
