When it comes to writing blog posts, I especially like doing them on the Fourth of July and Labor Day as I can put up GIFs of fireworks. I’m posting fireworks here today, because I don’t plan on doing anything here tomorrow. I’m taking the day off.
Well, I’m not really taking the day off—just won’t be doing anything here. I’m working on another book and I’ve got some columns I need to start thinking about and I’ve got an Ann Beattie book I want to start reading, so I’ve got plenty to do. I’m not complaining. It’s all stuff I want to do.
I’ve been invited to a few things tomorrow which is always appreciated. Despite the fact I’m a stick in the mud, all day, every day; friends seem to put up with me. Why they want me around, I’m not sure. I think they consider me a “character.” Yes, I’ve lived long enough to be considered this.
Most of these “things” tomorrow involves eating—not at a house or sitting at a table, but outside. You already know how I feel about that.
I won’t be seeing any fireworks either. That’s not really true. That GIF I posted here is fireworks—right? Good enough.
I hope you all have a good Fourth of July. Let it be whatever you want it to be.
