I saw my son last Saturday evening and he had something to load onto my computer—“History of the Eagles,” a three hour documentary on one of my favorite bands of all time. I guess it was on Showtime earlier this year.
A few nights ago, I watched the whole thing and man, what a treat this was. There were all the guys along with some of their friends including J.D. Souther, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne.
These were the people of my era—the mid 1970’s—and it’s still my era. I remember those days heading down to Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati and hearing this great music and while I’m rambling—really—has there ever been a better album made than “Hotel California?” If there has been, I don’t want to know about it.
Speaking of “Hotel California,” that video at the top of the post are the boys singing their great song while being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998—you know—where Linda Ronstadt isn’t. We’ve already talked about that.
Apparently, I can’t download that Hall of Fame video–bullshit copyright issues. Sorry about that. Here’s the whole album instead.
Hope you enjoy the video. I’ll be back here on Friday.
