James Salter and I have two things in common. He wanted to change his life and he decided to become a writer. So did I.
He was 32 when he decided to “Write or perish.” I was 43—got started a little later than he did. I’m not comparing my writing to James Salter, he’s the master at it and I’m just trying to get by, but I like the fact we both loved something so much, it was necessary to change how we see ourselves.
Salter is 88-years-old now and still at it and better than ever. I really like the video I’m posting here—hope you do too.
