Miley Cyrus and her MTV Video Music Awards performance was the talk of the internet on Monday and even the talk of the Walgreens on Madison Avenue here in Covington. When you can get the people at Walgreens all stirred up, then you know you’ve accomplished something.
Apparently, her performance had something to do with “twerking.” I had no idea what this is, so I went to the internet to find out. I found this article. It’s mostly about Miley (or so I think—wasn’t interested enough to read the whole thing), but I found out about this twerking stuff. It’s a dance which is all about the movement of the rump. OK—so now I know. My world hasn’t changed with this knowledge one bit. I didn’t think it would.
As far as Miley and her VMA performance goes, People are still discussing it. I would think what’s going on in Syria is more important, but you know me, I’m an idiot.
I’ve done my best to not watch that performance or read about it or care about it, but I will say this: When virtually every picture of the performance features Miley with her tongue hanging out, it’s not about the music anymore. It’s about something else and I don’t want to know what that ‘something else’ is. I’m betting her father is feeling the same way.
