What the hell do I know about music, right? Well, maybe a little. Back in my younger days (and I’m saying when I was a kid), I was involved in the business and some say I have an ear for music. I don’t want to get defensive right off the bat here—just saying.
“A Lot of Things Different” is a song written by Bill Anderson and Dean Dillon. I guess you could call it a Country song as Anderson and Dillon are known as Country songwriters and Kenny Chesney, a Country singer, had a pretty big hit on it back in September of 2002.
To be plain spoken, I don’t like Chesney’s version. Bill Anderson also recorded it and I don’t like his either. In the video, that’s John Conlee singing the song and while his version isn’t bad, I don’t think he even comes close to nailing it.
I believe “A Lot of Things Different” is a well written, powerful song. It’s not just a Country song; it can go well beyond that. Sometimes I think a song is looking for the right singer—the right voice. I don’t know who it would be for this song yet, but maybe you do.
