Kenny Price, a local talent from Florence, Kentucky, put out a record in the early 1970’s called “Pretty Girl, Pretty Clothes, Pretty Sad.” I remember being in a record shop in Madison, Indiana, and looking through the single records. I saw Kenny’s new song there and bought it.
The song was never a big hit and was never included in any of Kenny’s albums, but I always kind of liked it. I lost the record years ago and thought I would never hear the song again.
I guess it’s kind of true. If you wait it out, everything you want to see or hear will show up on YouTube sooner or later. Sure enough, I found the song there a few days ago.
Kenny passed away in 1987. Recently in Florence, they named a highway after him. That’s pretty cool. He was a good guy and I’m glad I got to know him a little bit.
“Pretty Girl” was recorded on Boone Records. Kenny lived in Florence—Boone County. There has to be a connection there somewhere. I’ll do some research on this. I’ll keep you posted.
I’ll be back here on Sunday.
