Many of you won’t be interested in the video I’m posting down below, but some of you older readers might be. Like me, you probably lived through the Watergate mess. I found the video on YouTube a few nights ago and decided to relive that time in our history.
To you young people out there, think “House of Cards: 1972.” The only thing is, this wasn’t a television series. This was the real deal. President Richard Nixon was a real life crook and liar.
My twin brother and I were living on Hillside Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio back then. I remember getting home from college and/or work and turning on the television set and watching the Watergate hearings. I got totally caught up in it.
On August 8, 1974, from that apartment on Hillside Avenue, I watched Nixon resign from office. I sort of felt sorry for him—such a public disgrace.
This all started and happened over 40 years ago now. It was a strange part of American History. It may sound odd, but I’m glad I was around to witness it.
