I’m guessing the audience will be light here today, so I’ll just write about Ernest Tubb. That way, those of you who hate Country Music won’t even see this. You’re all busy getting ready for church or coloring Easter eggs.
Now Ernest Tubb was a famous Country Music singer when I was growing up. I’ve met him at least a couple times. You all know my Country Music history, so I’m not going to get into that.
Was I a fan of Ernest Tubb? Oh, hell no. I never thought the guy could sing at all, just barely on key. His band was better than he was and two members of that band went on to be Country stars in their own right—Cal Smith and Jack Green.
Let me say this about Mr. Tubb. He was a gentlemen and nice to everybody. He would stand there and sign autographs until hell froze over. He would have his picture taken until there was no film left in the camera. He would talk to anybody who wanted to talk to him. I think these are reasons why he had millions of fans and kept them. Hell, he’s still got fans long after his death. He knew his audience well and appreciated them.
Down below is a video of one of his biggest hits, “Thanks A Lot.” To those actually reading this thing today, enjoy.
Now, excuse me. I’m getting ready for church and/or need to color Easter eggs.
