I’ve said this here and other places before. It’s so much easier to treat others the way you want to be treated—with some kind of respect. It doesn’t have to be overdone, shouldn’t be anything complicated that you need to even think about.
I don’t encounter this man very often, but I have a neighbor, an older neighbor, who is a fool, an idiot. I don’t know what his deal is with me, but he’ll go out of this way to be rude. I know he does this to others too.
Some weeks back, he raged about me as I left the building. Sitting on a bench in front, he said to the person sitting next to him as I passed, “Yeah, that guy. That’s who I’m talking about. F**k yooooooou! F**k yoooooou!!!”
Really? What in the hell? What’s the problem?
What he’s referring to, I have no idea. I just keep to myself where I live and try not to bother other people. Maybe this is the issue. I don’t know. What I do know is I’ll be grateful for the little things in life—that meaning this man at least doesn’t live on my floor.
Maybe he’s just a nut—a little off—but in my mind, this kind of approaches being bullied. I’m not there just yet. I’ll see what develops in the days and weeks ahead.
Remember the cartoon strip, Peanuts? I remember a great line when Linus said. “I love mankind, its people I can’t stand.” I can totally relate.
