If you read my post yesterday about robot journalism, you’re probably guessing that in some cases, I’m not liking where some of the world is going. If you’re guessing that I’m thinking this, you’d be guessing right.
Now, I’ve gone on various rants here also about cell phones and now people are always looking down and not up at the world—like this guy on his boat playing with his damn cell phone while a humpback whale is right in front of him. I’d laugh if it wasn’t so sad.
Here in downtown Covington, Kentucky, I live in a high-rise apartment building that is fairly close to the Ohio River. Every morning around sunrise, I hear and then I see a flock of geese flying to get down there to the river. It’s a wonder—a sight to see and I look forward to it every morning.
I may never see a humpback whale in real life, but if I ever get a chance, I won’t miss it because of a damn cell phone. Just like with those geese, I’ll be looking around and not down. I’m going to take life and the world in for as long as I can.
