  1. Go over to your blogroll and read Maureen Dowd’s column on Williams. It is very much spot on.

  2. I would be extremely surprised to ever see him on that broadcast again. He has turned himself into an internet joke!

  3. I don’t watch any of those nightly “news” broadcasts anymore. They have turned into entertainment shows. I watch PBS.

  4. It is a shame that he felt the need to make things up. I always thought he spoke well and delivered the news is a good way but his career is now over.

  5. You talk about blowing it. The thing is, Williams had a pretty decent resume. He didn’t need to make this story up. I agree. There is no coming back from this. Lester Holt just landed himself a pretty decent anchoring job.

  6. A reporter can’t be “…the new Walter Cronkite,” much less the old one, by telling tales and being snarky on too many other shows, like Letterman’s, and keep his credibility, the ONLY thing a reporter has going for him. He should have gracefully exited last week. Instead, he mumbled excuses, humiliated himself and is now thankfully disappearing slowly from our eyes and ears. He’s a loser, a big loser who will probably not appear again on any large network. Good riddance.

  7. NBC,at first, stated they were standing by Williams. Those words seem to be losing meaning by the minute as the viewing public is outraged by his lie and maybe more lies being uncovered. Go on Facebook. Williams has turned himself into a social media joke. He won’t be back. At least, unlike Bill Cosby, I think Williams will be smart enough to know this.

  8. I agree with everything you said. He’s outlived his usefulness. Things like this amaze me. He had to know the facts were easy to find; that they’re were people (the vets) who KNEW he was lying. Maybe he misremembered that they promised to remain silent and protect him.

    Fire his a$$!

  9. I am agreeing with cujokay that is lie is very insulting to our vets. He should at least them them he is sorry.
