Keith Olbermann has been around the “teevee” block a few times. I came to know him on MSNBC and liked “Countdown” and I even followed him to Current TV. Now he’s back on ESPN or ESPN2, whatever that is. He’s been there before—now he’s back. What goes around comes around? Maybe.
I mostly don’t watch sports on television (hell, I don’t even own a television) or talk shows about sports, but I’ll probably check out Keith from time to time.
When it comes to television, I’m thinking Keith doesn’t get along well with management. I’ve been accused of the same thing over the years, not in television with me, but in business and media relations, so that doesn’t bother me about him. In fact, I kind of like it.
Apparently, Keith isn’t allowed to talk about politics on his new sports show. That’s a shame and I suspect that in time, this will fall by the wayside. I think Keith pretty much does what he wants to do and says what he wants to say—and he’s always got something to say and it’s usually pretty smart.
I found this opinion piece in The New York Times amusing. The writer says that on his first show for ESPN2, Keith stared in his own highlight reel. Really, would you expect anything else?
I’m glad Keith Olbermann is back on television. Let’s hope it sticks for a while.
