Saturday morning, waiting outside the Kroger on Ferguson Avenue for my ride to pick me up, a young Kroger employer—a young lady gathering up shopping carts—approached me.
“Do me a favor,” she said. “Watch those two guys walking around through the parking lot.” She pointed to them.
“Let me know if they start looking into cars.”
“I’m on it.” I said.
She continued to gather up carts—then the manager came out. The two of them talked.
I watched the two young guys walking through the parking lot, but I had a feeling they knew they were being watched. It would be kind of stupid for them to attempt to break into an automobile. I watched them walk to Wal-Mart instead.
No, I wasn’t exactly Detective Columbo, but I was there to serve. Maybe I should have asked for a discount on my groceries.
